Harbor View at Jones Landing Wedding, Peaks Island Maine | Jessie & Chris

In my time being a wedding photographer, I’ve always found that any negative impacts to wedding days (and there always seems to be something small that goes amiss) are equalized by particularly awesome things.  Jessie and Chris’ wedding day occurred during the 4th of July weekend, as I’m sure a lot of you Mainers remember as being particularly hot and muggy.  Despite the fact that the pair were married right next to the ocean at the Harbor View at Jones Landing on Peaks Island, the heat was, well… rather extreme.  However, the delightfully blue and cloudy sky, which made for gorgeous, quintessential coastal Maine wedding portraits, gave way to the most dramatic sunset I’ve seen all summer, and guests couldn’t stop raving about it.  After experiencing that sunset I wanted to pack up my bags and move to Peaks Island so I could always end my day with that amazing view, complete with the twinkly Portland lights on the other side of the bay.

Of course, there were also other awesome things that happened during Jessie and Chris’ wedding– I’ll talk about it more throughout this post.  Let’s get on with the photos!

Jessie made a few of these delightful signs and put them at various places on the island AND in Portland.  I saw this right before I got on the ferry and snapped a pic.

The ferry ride was nice and cool (and gorgeous).

Grace, Chris and Jessie’s adorable pup, lucked out with an adorable flower wreath designed by Snell Family Farms

We took a few family photos before the ceremony began, and had to include this cute capture of Jessie, Chris, and their baby!

And then the ceremony began.  One of my favorite things to photograph at a wedding are the flower girls and ring bearers coming down the aisle– you never know what they’re going to do!

The ceremony was picturesque, to say the least.

We drove around the island after the ceremony and took a few photos at the location where Chris proposed to Jessie.  The clouds and sky were absolutely perfect.  And check out that seagull!

Zoe gifted her sister with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels that I secretly wanted to steal (and I’m not even a gal who wears heels)!

The vintage and rustic details added a bit of Maine coastal charm to Chris and Jessie’s wedding.  Many of these details were designed by Jessie and thoughtfully put together by Paula Cano of A Family Affair of Maine.

After the first dance we headed down to the dock to get a few portraits against the backdrop of the amazing sunset, one of which you already saw at the top of this post.

The sunset only got better as the night progressed…

And as the sunset got brighter and bolder… so did the dancing!

The cake was designed by Jessie’s friend, Kate, in a Peaks Island cottage.  I love seeing special wedding details entrusted to friends!

A fabulous sparkler exit rounded out the night!

I couldn’t end out the blog post without a photo of Jessie and her dear sister, Zoe, who are incredibly close to one another.

Jessie and Chris, I loved your wedding, and hope you loved it as well (you’d be crazy not to)!  Thank you for allowing me to photograph your wedding day.
