Enrique & Claire’s Hancock Maine Wedding

Enrique officially met Claire on OkCupid right before Claire had deleted her account. She had been on it for six months, had found nobody of interest, so when Enrique reached out to her she decided to give him her spam email address as she wasn't sure their connection would amount to anything. They decided to meet at a museum for their first date, but as Claire waited... and waited... and wondered where Enrique was, she realized she was at the wrong entrance. So, she quickly biked over to the other side of the museum in the hopes that he was still there. He was. It was awkward, but they enjoyed each other enough to go on a second date, where more awkward hijinks ensued, but it seemed apparent that these small thorny moments couldn't keep them apart. In fact, Enrique was so sure of Claire that within three months of dating, he suggested he move in with her as her lease was ending, but she opted to renew her lease for one more year, just to make sure she was sure of her feelings. But once that lease ran its course, they moved in together, and the rest... is history.

We were blessed with a beautifully overcast day for their early afternoon June wedding at a private residence in Hancock, Maine, and while there was a few sprinkles during the ceremony, the rain held until afterwards, in which it briefly poured. Everyone flocked to the tent, and some even donned ponchos. Friends and family waited out the storm by playing the wide variety of card and board games laid out on the tables while feasting on an entirely vegan meal by Bar Harbor Catering. While Enrique would have been happy with a few vegan options at his wedding, Claire insisted that he be able to eat everything on his wedding day, which was such an incredible act of love. The food did not disappoint- there were tamales, pretzel waffles, and a whole host of snacks and desserts. Bar Harbor Catering Company never disappoints!

Claire wore what appeared to be a wedding dress for the ceremony, but she whipped off the skirt during cocktail hour to reveal that it was actually a jumpsuit, much to everyone's delight. And... it had POCKETS! Enrique carefully chose his wardrobe to ensure that it was vegan, wearing canvas shoes and a bamboo vest. Toward the end of the day, Claire kicked over a glass of red wine, and laughed about it. She dabbed at her pant leg for a moment, then moved on with her day, not a care in the world.

When I suggested that Claire and Enrique kayak at the end of their wedding day, they were 100% down. They pulled the kayaks out, carried them down to the shore, and while Enrique carefully took off his shoes and rolled up his pants, Claire charged into the water while still wearing her blue flats. They kayaked under a beautiful grey-blue sky while friends and family watched from the shore.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from Claire and Enrique's wedding day. Enjoy!
