Definitely Wonderful

(Day 14/30 of the 30 day blog challenge. Read more about it here!)

Today, I traveled to Bar Harbor to meet up with a couple who are getting married in 2013.  We sat down in a small coffee shop and talked for a few hours.  I asked how they had met, and they launched into a comfortable story that they had clearly told many times before.  The groom knew all the right moments to jump in and share his side of the story, and she knew exactly how much she could rib him.  The tale included travel to and from Ireland, a surprise engagement in Spain, and messing with friends and family who thought that FOR SURE that he must have popped the question during their trip (but… why wasn’t there a ring on her finger)?  It was, indeed, a very good story.

As I sat with this couple, watching them reenact their love story and playfully bat one another in mock annoyance, I thought about how lucky I am.  I get to spend some of my time on the clock learning about people who are in love, and, in the process, I am able to become good friends with many of them.  And I feel so grateful and humbled when these couples want to share their day with me.

Afterwards, I met up with Tony and Linds, a close friend of mine, and as they started to rib me about various little things, I thought, “what I have here is good.  It’s wonderful, really.  Definitely wonderful.”
