Boston Engagement Photographer, Arnold Arboretum | Elizabeth & Martin

I knew I was going to like Elizabeth and Martin when they booked me for their wedding.  After all, they chose one of my favorite venues in the state of Maine, Migis Lodge! Migis has this delightful Maine rustic vibe that feels a bit like a L.L. Bean Signature catalog, which is exactly my sort of scene.  Migis hosts a very limited amount of weddings each year, and so I was majorly, majorly gleeful when these two chose me to be their wedding photographer.

I met Elizabeth and Martin for the first time when I traveled to Boston last weekend to do their engagement session at the Arnold Arboretum.  We planned to shoot Saturday afternoon, and although the fog would have made for some really soft and romantic photos, the breeze and the mist were quite miserable.  So we rescheduled for Sunday morning, which afforded us lovely sun and relatively warm temperature.  And I knew, from the very first words that we shared, that not only were these two a great match, but that I really liked them.  There was an ease about them that instantly made me feel at home, and we chatted about everything under the sun– our various levels of introversion/extroversion, sports, cross-fit, who’s the most witty out of the two… it was as if I was spending the day with two close friends, which was excellent.

Elizabeth and Martin met for the first time when they were working at the same company.  Martin told Elizabeth that eating at her desk was not allowed, and Elizabeth believed him.  It turned out to be a ploy so he could have lunch with her in the office cafeteria.  I’m not an advocate of lying, but in this situation… I think it was totally worth it.  Right?  And the rest, clearly, was history.

Time for me to stop writing and share with you this adorable engagement session!

Who knew we’d be able to find some greenery in December?  I felt pretty lucky to have this delightful backdrop to contract Elizabeth’s blue blazer (from J. Crew.. this gal has good taste!)

These two were naturals in front of the camera and, from the first moment I began to photograph them, had no qualms with snuggling up to one another.  Although, now that I think about it, it may have been because they were a little bit cold.  I told them that we needed to try at least one serious photo.  You two are stunners!

Thanks for inviting me down to Boston, Elizabeth and Martin!  I had a great time– counting down the days to your wedding!
