Blue Hill Maine Engagement Portraits | Laura & Ben

I met Laura and Ben last winter when they were spending time with family in Maine.  We chatted for over an hour, and I remember leaving the coffee shop and really, really hoping that they would pick me to be their photographer.  Our conversation had been engrossing, and the few days I had to wait until I heard back from them was somewhat traumatizing because I had really fallen in love with them and their wedding plans and I didn’t want to give them up to another wedding photographer!

Obviously, they picked me (hooray!) and so to say that I was looking forward to their engagement session might be the understatement of the century.  They decided to have their photos done in the backyard of Laura’s parents’ house in Blue Hill, which included a peaceful, overgrown field with a rocky beach at its base.  The fog rolled in right when I arrived, which is, as regular readers should know, is my favorite weather for sessions and weddings, and so I had a field day with what I was given.  I’m not sure if I could have asked for anything more!

We ended our session by heading over to their wedding venue, the Lookout Inn, where they will be tying the knot in September.  We hadn’t planned on taking photos there, but rather to talk about their wedding day plans, but the fog was so delightfully thick and soupy that I insisted we work for a little while longer, even as the sun dipped below the horizon.  I think you’ll see it was worth it.

Thank you, Ben and Laura, for being awesome and for letting me photograph how you two love one another.  I can’t wait for the wedding!  Here are my favorites from our time together.
