It was a beautiful August afternoon when I met both Beck and Alan, two Brits who traveled across the pond to Maine with their favorite people to tie the knot in Bar Harbor. Beck was having her makeup done (by Ariel Johnson!), listening to classic jams like "Whoomp! (There It Is)", "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It," and a variety of other songs culled from awesome TV shows like Parks and Recreation. And when I went to photograph Alan getting ready at a nearby property, I found him leaning against an open refrigerator, trying to beat the late summer heat. Both Alan and Beck, you could say, in their own ways, were trying their best to.... stay cool. ;)
Tears fell thick and heavy during their ceremony, which took place on the lawn of the Bar Harbor Inn- Alan cried a river during their sentimental ceremony, while Ali, Beck's mom, dabbed away tears as she watched Beck and Alan read their personalized vows to one another. Before we knew it, Beck and Alan were, after ten years of dating, finally married. And after portraits on the shore path, Beck and Alan's reception continued with dinner, thoughtful toasts, and dancing on Bar Harbor Inn's second floor porch- a perfect Thursday evening, if I may say so myself.
Alan and Beck first met during a drinking game at university, and the pair decided over curry, after the aforementioned years and years of dating, to finally tie the knot. They envisioned a week-long event, and since they both loved Maine (partially for Acadia's beauty, but also because Stephen King, a favorite author of theirs, hails from Bangor) it seemed like the perfect idea to bring their loved ones to Mount Desert Island so they could experience the magic for themselves.
Thank you for letting me capture your wedding day, Alan and Beck, and for giving me a quick education in British slang! I hope you have some fizz (see what I did there?) ready, as you'll be receiving your wedding gallery soon :)
Here are a few of my favorite photos- enjoy!
