I was heartbroken when Chloë and Will rescheduled their 2020 wedding for 2021, but knew that since they were doctors and understood how dangerous COVID was, that they had made a smart decision for everyone. We opted to do an Acadia engagement session around the time of their previously scheduled wedding, and I waited impatiently for 2021.
Of course, Will and Chloë's wedding was worth the wait. They chose to host their wedding on Chloë's family's property, a stunning coastal property in which many of Chloë's family members have built houses of their own over the years. It may be one of my favorite properties I've seen on Mount Desert Island in some time- it was just lovely, as you'll see below. And, they decided that all guests needed to be vaccinated (save for the kids, who, of course, were not eligible). This decision made me so happy and really made me feel safe photographing their wedding!
Chloë and Will's wedding day went without a hitch (which was organized to perfection by Rachel of R.L. Sisson Events). After both got ready, they met at the shore for a casual, emotional first look followed by a few portraits that involved climbing rocks (both leaping and climbing nimbly despite being in a dress and suit). The ceremony followed, lead by Chloë's aunt, Kelly Rose. I appreciated how she asked each wedding party member to choose one word to describe both Chloë and Will, and she shared the results during the ceremony. All were heartfelt, a couple that drew laughter. And, I also enjoyed how Will and Chloë's vows were eerily similar (despite neither of them knowing what each other had written), which spoke to how well they know each other and how similarly they tell their own love story.
After the ceremony, everyone shared in delicious appetizers served by Clark Point Catering, and the five flower girls (all fantastic, energetic kids who I fell in love with) ran around the property, crawling from under tables, swinging on the swing set, and cuddling with Chloë when she had a spare moment to do so. Chloë and Will took a spare moment during cocktail hour to let the flower girls push them on the swings, which was such a delight to photograph.
After toasts were given and dinner eaten (curry was an option, and IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!), guests headed to the barn for dancing, and Will and Chloë started things off with an incredibly energetic first dance that was fantastically performed, and everyone joined the pair on the dance floor to celebrate.
