Meagan & Chris’ Backyard Brunswick Maine Elopement

Meagan and Chris' wedding was originally slated for May, then moved to November, and then, in early July, I received an email. They were concerned that their wedding couldn't safely happen in the way they were envisioning in November, and were wondering, since they were eager to get married, if I would mind photographing their elopement in late July- specifically, on the one year anniversary of their engagement?

Mind? Of course not! We created a game plan (with a focus on safety, which really meant a great deal to me), and before I knew it I was in their backyard in Brunswick Maine. I stepped inside briefly to photograph Meagan putting on her dress (with help from Leann, Meagan's sister), and then stepped outside to photograph Chris as he donned his jacket (by the way- I'm very fond of couples who opt to get dressed outside- it can make for some incredible photos, and it's currently safer than getting dressed inside!). In the meantime, Don, one of Chris' close friends, put together their Zoom setup- and let me tell you, I'm not sure if I've ever seen such a fine remote viewing setup as the one Don put together. The footage looked incredible!

Right on time, Meagan and Chris got into place, said their vows, exchanged rings, and Daisy, their adorable pup, ALMOST sprang for Megan and Chris' cupcake, which was sitting on a nearby table. I side-eyed Daisy as she started wandering over, while simultaneously preparing to photograph the first kiss, and while I kind of hoped she'd go for it- I mean, can you imagine anything cuter and naughtier?- she changed course, and thus Meagan and Chris' ceremony went off without a hitch. A toast from Chris' brother, who was meant to be the best man, ensued, the cupcake was shared, and everyone waved goodbye as their mini celebration ended.

We then jumped into our respective cars and headed to Simpson's Point in Brunswick, the location of Meagan and Chris' first date, where the light was gorgeous and the skies provided a show befitting Meagan and Chris' newly married status. We eventually parted ways so they could head home and enjoy some delicious Portland Pie Co. pizza at home- basically, the perfect low-key elopement in the time of coronavirus.

Meagan and Chris- thank you so much for including me in your day, and doing everything in your power to make it safe. I loved being a witness to your love! Here's a few of my favorite photos from our afternoon and evening together.
