Annie and Markus' small, elopement-like Maine wedding was nothing short of delightful. The pair planned everything within days- after flying in from Geneva, Annie purchased a dress in New York, selected Pemaquid Point as their ceremony location (which is relatively close to where Annie grew up and where Annie's parent currently reside), and obtained a marriage license. And on the day of, Annie's parents helped with the final details, creating bouquets and a centerpiece from flowers in their garden, baking a cake, and making hors d'oeuvres. I started my day by spending 2 1/2 hours capturing portraits of the pair at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Pemaquid Beach, and Fort William Henry, and during that time we experienced all sorts of beautiful light- direct sun, lightly overcast skies, and fog. After portraits, everyone pitched in to decorate a table, while Charlotte, Annie's mom, frosted their wedding cake. After their brief ceremony, which took place in thick fog, Annie threw her bouquet to a group of young campers who were near us (it was adorable) and everyone toasted Annie and Markus.
Afterwards, I was thoughtfully invited by Annie and Markus to partake in dinner with them at Annie's parents' home, and since we finished relatively early in the day I joined in. We all partook in espresso brewed at Charlotte's art gallery and cafe, and enjoyed each other's company as the lobster was prepared and then eaten (none for me, unfortunately, I've never been a fan. What kind of Mainer am I?).
