Wedding FAQ

Q • HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
A • I consider myself a photojournalist—I prefer candid and naturally lit photos (although I do break out the flash in dark churches and receptions)!  Any decent photographer can take a beautiful photo; my goal is to provide you with photography that is not only stunning, but also carefully and evocatively tells your story, the story of you as a couple and the story of your long-awaited wedding day.  I also love detail shots of important aspects of your wedding, such as the dress, the flowers, and the wedding rings, as these help to flesh out your story.  I do, of course, provide traditional portraits, but I prefer for them to be loose and candid in nature, rather than stiff and awkwardly posed. I provide a mix of color and black and white photos—these color treatments are determined based on what I believe looks and works best for each image.

Q • CAN WE MEET UP SO I CAN TELL YOU MORE ABOUT MY WEDDING AND SO I CAN GET TO KNOW YOU?
A • Yes!  I always ask to meet with clients whenever possible because I believe that choosing a photographer is a very personal decision.  Unlike your other vendors, I will be with you all day.   And, your wedding photography will be one of the few tangible items that will remain from the day of your wedding.  It is an incredibly important investment, and I believe it is important for you to meet me and to make sure that you feel that, like your significant other,  I am the one. If it’s impossible for us to meet due to distance or other circumstances, I suggest that we talk on the phone in order to learn about one another.

Q • WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
A • I am located in Bangor, Maine.

Q • DO YOU TRAVEL?
A • I do!  Although many of my weddings are in midcoast and southern Maine, I do book weddings outside of Maine and I’d love to travel to wherever you would like to take me.  Please contact me to find out more information about travel.

Q • DO YOU WORK WITH A SECOND SHOOTER?
A • My top tier packages include a second shooter.  I always recommend that you book a second shooter to provide better coverage of your wedding, especially if you will have more than a hundred wedding guests.  The second shooters I work with are talented individuals who have a similar shooting style.

Q • WILL I RECEIVE THE HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGES?
A • Yes!  All of my wedding packages include the high resolution images and a print license which will allow you to print your photos.

Q • HOW MANY HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGES WILL I RECEIVE FROM THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION AND THE WEDDING?
A • In regards to the engagement session, I provide 20 carefully chosen and retouched images for your gallery.  For your wedding, it’s a bit harder to provide a more specific number, as it depends upon the length of your coverage, if you have selected a second photographer, and the general nature of your wedding day.  My goal is to  provide you with a carefully curated set of images that effectively and beautifully tells the story of your wedding day.  For most weddings with 7 hours of coverage and 1 photographer, you can usually expect to see a minimum of 450 images, which is more than one photo a minute!

Q • WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU OFFER?
A • I offer canvas gallery wraps, albums, and prints. These products can be viewed here.  Please contact me for more information.

Q • WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE SICK ON OUR WEDDING DAY?
A • First off, I very rarely get so sick that I am unable to function (thank goodness).  If, in the unlikely situation that I am so sick that I cannot move, my second shooter would cover your wedding and I would find another photographer to act as a second shooter.  If you only hired me, I would contact my network of Maine photographers to find a suitable photographer who is open on that date.  I network extensively with other wedding photographers in Maine, and I’ve found that we all have one thing in common; we want you to have excellent photos of your wedding day.

Q • I’M REALLY INTERESTED IN HAVING YOU SHOOT OUR WEDDING.  HOW MUCH DO YOUR SERVICES COST?
A • My wedding coverage begins at $4000 plus tax; please contact me so that I can send you information about my collections and the products that I offer!

Q • OKAY, WE DEFINITELY WANT YOU TO PHOTOGRAPH OUR WEDDING!  WHAT’S THE NEXT STEP?
A • High five- I’m glad that we’re a match!  Once you’ve decided on the package and the products that you would like, I draft up a contract and send it to you electronically.  Once you’ve signed the contract and have paid, either with a check or credit card ,for 35% of the total amount, you have booked me for your wedding date!  Now relax—that’s one less thing you need to worry about!
