Every wedding I attend is a special day, but Michelle and Shawn's wedding felt particularly magical to me. I photographed Michelle's sister's Blue Hill wedding last year, and Michelle and Shawn's Blue Hill engagement session allowed me to get to know the two of them and her mom, Barbara, even better as we toured around the area. On their wedding day, I felt like I was a part of their family and didn't want to leave as they all crowded on the dancefloor, Michelle spinning around and around with a gigantic smile that never left her face.
Rain threatened to ruin our portrait time in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, but we managed to avoid all rain and benefit from the gorgeous, stormy skies that made their scenic oceanside photos pop. When we returned to cocktail hour (Michelle and Shawn arranged to have their cocktail hour begin a few hours after the ceremony so they would have time to take portraits in Acadia and enjoy their own party- great idea!) I was thrilled to see the Bar Harbor Club's ballroom gorgeously set up with classic, timeless details that reflected Michelle and Shawn's style beautifully. In particular, their centerpieces and bouquets (crafted ever so lovingly by Fleurishes) were favorites of mine.
Vendor work that I particularly loved included her stationary designer (check out the menu below, designed by Parrott Design Studio, their transportation (I love Oli's Trolley!), and Retrospecticus, a favorite wedding band of mine, kept their dance floor packed and energetic.
At the end of the evening, Michelle and Shawn's wedding party set up a flash mob to make her smile, and their reactions to the surprise choreographed dance were priceless. I hadn't thought the two of them could be any happier, but I was wrong!
