Southern Maine Wedding Photographer | Sarah & Spencer

I was pretty sure it was going to rain on Sarah and Spencer’s wedding day– although my luck with rain on wedding days is pretty good, the 40-50% chance of rain and thunderstorms loomed rather threateningly.  The sky, filled with clouds and at times with fog, suggested the chance of rain was higher than 50%.  However, right as I turned into Sarah’s childhood home, the clouds lifted and the sun came out.  It was as simple as that.  I jokingly told people the rest of the day that Sarah and Spencer’s love fought back the clouds so that it could shine brightly and freely on their wedding day, and although that reasoning probably has more to do with wind speeds and other meterological data that just happened to coincide with their wedding day, I don’t think it hurts to think of it as a metaphorical signal of their adorable relationship.

However, let’s not spend too much time with flowery language– let’s get on to the photos!

Sarah got ready at her childhood home, helped by a group of dear bridesmaids who were always ready to do whatever Sarah needed.  By the way– aren’t their dresses adorable?

Sarah’s something blue!  Spencer was proud of the fact that he came up with what to write all on his own, without any prompting from Pinterest!

Sarah’s first look with her dad was rather teary… and adorable.

Ladies, you looked gorgeous!

And then we were off to the Deering Center Community Church!

Sarah and Spencer prayed together before the ceremony and elected not to see each other until Sarah came down the aisle.

The flower girls and ring bearer had a little bit of trouble figuring out what to do after they finished walking down the aisle, so they wandered around a bit, much to the amusement of everyone there.  Loud applause followed once they had all made it down.

A quick kiss before the two walked down the aisle!

Sarah and Spencer elected to do an unplugged ceremony, in which guests were asked to stow away any cameras, phones, and tablets, and were asked to focus on the ceremony instead of a screen.  I loved the fact that they did this– it made photographing the ceremony so much easier on my end, and I loved how everyone’s attention was on Sarah and Spencer.

The bubble sendoff was one of my favorite moments of the day.  So pretty!

Love these two adorable photos with Spencer and his sister Shannon :)

We headed to Fort Williams to get a few quick photos on the beach.

And then we headed back to the Purpoodock Club, where we took a few photos of the wedding party and a few more of Sarah and Spencer.  Love these poppy colors!

These two did this, unprompted, before the first dance.  Adorable, right?

Two heartfelt and teary-eyed speeches were given, both of which were fabulous.

These guys really meant business during the garter toss.  Look at how serious they were!  I’ve never seen a group of guys more into the garter toss than these guys were.

Spencer surprised Sarah by serenading her at the reception by creating a medly of important songs during their relationship.  I’ll be honest– I don’t cry at weddings as much as I used to, because I’m focusing on getting the shot, but this definitely made me tear up behind the camera.

And then there was hilarious dancing! :)

Sarah and Spencer, thank you so much for letting me spend the day with you two!  It was a lovely wedding.
