Samoset Resort Wedding, Rockland Maine | Sam & Ryan

Five months ago, during Sam and Ryan's engagement session, the pair expressed concern that their wedding day would be too hot because the first June weekend the year prior had also been a scorcher.  I'm pretty sure I laughed sympathetically and said something along the lines about how the chances were small that such an early summer date would result in overly hot weather.

Naturally, I was wrong.  On Sam's and Ryan's wedding day we were faced with high 80s (and possibly 90s) weather that was made more dramatic with the high humidity that has been recently plaguing Maine.  However, just looking at Sam and Ryan, who were both gleeful that their six year relationship was finally resulting in marriage, you could tell the weather really didn't matter one bit.  And, after all-- who can say no to blue skies on your wedding day?

Here are a few of my favorite photos from Sam and Ryan's wedding at the Samoset Resort, one of the most accommodating venues I've ever been to (but I'll share more about that and their wedding day in this blog post).

The Samoset Resort is a luxury golf course that actually sits next to the ocean.  It has views that are, quite honestly, unmatched.

Will Clayton, the wedding coordinator at Samoset Resort, was an absolute dream to work with.  He was always there, making sure Sam had everything she needed, and even gave me a comprehensive tour of the entire property (the Samoset is comprised of several hundred acres)!  Wedding coordinators like Will are like gold-- rare, invaluable, and definitely worth keeping around!

I love how Sam's dad is looking at her in this photo.  Is it just me, or do his eyes look a little glassy?

We went outside for a quick jaunt before the wedding (Sam had everyone ready early, which was awesome-- she's a wedding coordinator herself at Morgan Hill, so she knew exactly how she wanted to run her wedding.

The guys also got ready at the same time, and was covered by my second photographer, Tammie.

And then it was time for the ceremony, which was brief, but sweet (which was ideal, what with the humidity).

The florals (all peonies-- my favorite!) were crafted by Hoboken Gardens.

Sam, you were gorgeous on your wedding day!

The breakwater was an obvious place to take photos, so we began there.  The wind was a bit whippy, which resulted in Sam's fluffy dress to fly in the air, which was rather romantic.

I can't decide if I like this image better in color or black and white, so you get both!

The Samoset Ballroom was air conditioned-- THANK GOODNESS :).  It was also pretty gorgeous-- I really liked the charcoal and pink color palette of the day.

The first dances were all sweet, fun, and delightfully playful.

And then the party started!  Mike of High Tech Entertainment was a blast to work with, and kept people up on the dance floor, dancing to such classics as Gagnam Style (I'm not sure if that song is ever going to get old... and I'm totally okay with that.)

What a wonderful day.  Thank you, Sam and Ryan, for letting me capture your wedding!
